Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
Yes. Meadow Ridge Dental Centre participates in the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We bill according to the CDCP fee guide and we don’t balance bill, so for covered services you won’t be charged more than the CDCP fee. Depending on your family income, the plan may require a co-payment; we’ll let you know before treatment begins.
To check whether you’re eligible, visit the Government of Canada’s CDCP page, or call us at (604) 467-5944.
Will my dental treatment be covered by insurance?
Many dental plans offered by employers are meant to help you pay for the cost of your dental treatment. The insurance companies that provide these dental plans are called benefit carriers.
The amount that your benefit carrier reimburses you for treatment depends on the level of coverage determined by your employer or plan administrator. When you are a patient at Meadow Ridge Dental Centre, we develop treatment plans based on the unique health needs of each patient.
However, in some cases, a patient requires treatment different from what is covered by their dental plan. If this occurs, you have the right to choose whether or not you would like to proceed with your treatment.
Our helpful dental team will be happy to contact your benefits carrier to determine if they cover the recommended treatment. You will be responsible for paying the portion that your plan does not cover.
If your treatment is not covered or you are uninsured and need help with financing, we accept Affirm at Meadow Ridge Dental Centre. Affirm helps you cover the cost of your treatment then allows you to make monthly or biweekly payments in manageable amounts.
We don’t want anyone to go without dental treatment due to financial reasons. If you have questions or concerns, please call our Maple Ridge, BC dental clinic at (604) 467-5944, and a helpful member of our team will be happy to assist you.
Do you offer options to finance dental services?
For patients in Maple Ridge and Hammond, who may lack insurance or wish to finance their care over time, we can offer help through Affirm. With Affirm, you can pay for your dental services with a series of affordable monthly or bi-weekly installments.
Some advantages of using Affirm are:
- Flexible – you can pay an amount you choose when you receive treatment and finance the rest
- Affordable – financing charges and interest rates at Affirm are usually lower than credit cards
- High approval rates
- Application won’t impact your credit score
Affirm is a payment solution you can use for more than dental care. If you would like to learn more about financing your dental care, please call our office or you may apply online directly at affirm.com.
Other Payment Options in Maple Ridge and Hammond
We are pleased to accept cash, debit, and credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. We also work with all dental insurance. We encourage you to call our dental clinic to learn how your particular insurance works, its coverages and its limitations.
The amount of your treatment covered by dental insurance depends on determinations by your employer or plan administrator. Our goal at Meadow Ridge Dental Centre is to offer treatment plans based on the unique health needs of each patient while fitting within their financial requirements. For essential treatments, you may be able to combine insurance with Affirm financing to achieve your oral health care and smile goals.
How often should I get a dental exam?
The standard recommendation for dental exams is every six months. These twice-yearly visits allow your dentist and hygienist to monitor your oral health and ensure they catch potential problems while minor and easily treatable.
That said, the ideal frequency depends on your individual risk factors and oral health needs. Our dentist in Maple Ridge, BC, will carefully evaluate your needs and advise you on what’s best in your case.
Some patients may need more frequent exams:
Every 3–4 months for:
- Active gum disease or a history of periodontal problems
- A high risk of cavities or ongoing decay
- Diabetes or other conditions that affect oral health
- Weakened immune system
If you or your child is undergoing orthodontic treatment, you may benefit from more frequent visits to ensure teeth and gums stay healthy.
Annual exams may be sufficient if you:
- Have excellent oral health with no history of cavities or gum disease
- Maintain meticulous home care habits
- Have no risk factors for dental problems
Not sure what schedule is right for you? We will recommend an exam schedule tailored to your specific situation. The goal is to prevent problems rather than waiting until they become costly and complex to treat.
Call Meadow Ridge Dental Centre to discuss your individual needs and establish a preventive care plan that keeps your smile healthy for life.
What counts as a dental emergency (and what to do first) in Maple Ridge, BC?
Dental emergencies happen suddenly. Knowing how to respond, including where to find immediate professional care, can make all the difference in relieving pain, preventing permanent damage, and protecting your oral health.
Identifying Dental Emergencies
Some situations should never be ignored. These include:
- Severe, persistent, and unrelenting tooth pain
- Loose or knocked-out adult teeth
- Unexplained and/or uncontrolled swelling or bleeding in the gums
- Signs of infection, like pus or fever
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Lost fillings or crowns
- Dental trauma from an accident or sports injury
What to Do in a Dental Emergency
In a dental emergency, the first step is to call your dentist at (604) 467-5944 as soon as possible. Describe your symptoms clearly so the team can determine how quickly you need to be seen. If dental pain is accompanied by facial swelling, difficulty breathing, or signs of infection spreading, seek urgent dental or medical care right away. Prompt treatment helps prevent complications and preserves your smile.
If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it, and either place it back in its socket or store it in milk until you reach the dental office. For swelling or pain, applying a cold compress can help reduce discomfort while you wait for care. Always avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums, as this can cause tissue irritation.

You can also call us at (604) 467-5944 to schedule an emergency appointment
When should my child have their first dental exam?
The Canadian Dental Association and our dentists agree that children should have their first dental visit when they get their first teeth or by the age of one, whichever comes first.
While this may seem early, there are several benefits of early dental care for children:
- Creates Comfort — Children feel more comfortable in the dental chair for future visits when they have early appointments.
- Early Development — Starting dental visits early on allows us to monitor your child's dental development.
- Eliminates Anxiety — Early visits create stability, relieve fear, and help eliminate anxiety about future appointments, as your child knows and understands what to expect.
- Easier Treatment — Treatment procedures are typically more straightforward and less invasive if we identify treatment needs early.
Future Recommendations for Children
As your little one gets older and more comfortable with their Maple Ridge children's dentist, we may recommend fluoride treatments to help strengthen their teeth and dental sealants to guard against tooth decay.
Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps to rebuild small areas of tooth decay and strengthen developing teeth. Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your little one's molars to guard against plaque and bacteria causing tooth decay.
If it's time for your child's next dental visit, contact Meadow Ridge Dental Centre at (604) 467-5944 to schedule.
Same‑week appointments usually available.
